What Does a Mentor Do?
As a mentor, you’ll be a trusted advisor and role model, helping students grow academically, personally, and professionally. Your role includes offering academic support, guiding personal development, and introducing students to career opportunities. We ask for a commitment of 2–3 hours per month throughout the academic year (September–June), with flexible scheduling and regular communication between meetings.
Who Can be a Mentor?
We welcome mentors from all backgrounds and professions. Ideal candidates are:
Age: 21 years or older
Experience: Working professionals, college graduates, or those with life experience to share
Commitment: Reliable and able to maintain consistent contact
Background: All industries and career paths are valuable
Personal Qualities: Patient, empathetic, good listener, and genuinely interested in helping young people
Safety and Policies

Background checks required for all mentors
Clear guidelines for appropriate mentor-mentee interactions
Regular supervision and check-ins with program staff
Confidentiality policies and reporting procedures
Training on recognizing and responding to student needs
